VAS
VAS - a reimagined vessel
VAS is a vessel comprising three interconnecting parts – a base and a top that are made from fired ceramic, and a middle connecting element made from CNC cut reclaimed timber. A limited series of 48 vessels have been made, each a unique object by way of size, colour, and surface finish. VAS is an outcome of a process-based approach to research and making. The material used to make VAS would have otherwise ended up in landfill. It has gone through research and making processes to become a useable material that is able to be applied to studio designs.
VAS is functional and imaginative. It can be stacked, rotated and arranged in multiple ways. The base is watertight and can be used functionally to arrange ‘things’ or imaginatively through experimenting with positioning the three interconnecting parts. They have been made using an engobed surface finish in three colours – Wattle, Banksia, and Iron Ore. The timber connector elements have been stained to complement the ceramic surfaces. The ceramic base and top elements are made in modular heights which, when stacked, result in vessels with four different overall heights.
